So many things inspire me and my thinking that it is easy for me to lose track of what the original inspiration was...if that makes sense. I have been in the space the last month, of re-evaluating my position in life, which consists of career, relationships, and self. I have been discovering many things that are taking me to new places and opening doors that I never visited and it is quite refreshing.
My latest inspiration has been OPRAH. I truly think she is one of the most beautiful beings of our existence. Her ability to make the human connection her "priority" is beyond amazing to me. It is because of her good intention and energy behind everything that she has done, that has catapulted her success to the level it is. All that to say, she said something recently that gave me an "aha" moment.
Just to preface this so it makes sense, I recently have been struggling with the idea of what I have chosen to do with my life. As much as I enjoy my 5th graders and the times we share each day, there are days when I truly question and ask myself "what was I thinking?" I deal with some of the most troubled and disadvantaged youth there is, and that is based on my location and demographic. Many would run when they see the intellect and challenges that these children face, BUT not one day did I say "I give up" nor did I stay home just to call out or went to work but not cared and didn't give my all.
What was pulling me out the bed everyday was this unidentified force and voice that kept saying "You must go...why wouldn't you? They are there"..then I remember one of my high school teachers telling me "half the job of anything you do is showing up." Well Oprah eloquently stated on her finale show something that my spirit had been telling me but my mind wasn't able to fully comprehend.
She basically stated that her show had been her platform for so many years and that she never missed one day in 25 years because she knew that her audience was waiting. She also knew that she had to do and give the very best she could while she was in the position she was in. I heard this and the light bulb went off for me. I know for a fact that teaching is not the end all for me, and there are many things I am called to do...but at this moment and at this time this is what I am doing and I must do it well. It is through this experience that will carry me to my next chapter. I must believe and trust in the plan GOD has for me and just be present.
My biggest problem I have always had in my adult life is I want everything FAST...NOW! This all comes from a lack pf patience. It took a beautiful person to come into my life and show me a lesson about patience and I realize now that God placed that individual there mainly for that. All we really have is the moment in front of us. What will we do with it? Surely not use it to wish about what we want, who we wish we were with, where we shouldbe, how much we want to make, or ask yourself "why me?"
Use the moments you have to shine your light as bright as you can to fully prepare yourself for the blessings that God will place in your life purposely. Every trial and tribulation is truly a lesson that you must master. Paying close attention to your life and doing things purposeful will always allow you to move ahead. Trust in the power of being still and control the energy you send out to those around you. We all are each others helpers.
I am so full of gratitude and truly pleased with the position I hold each day. Not one day goes by that one of my students don't hug me, compliment me or tell me how much they love me in some way. That is an indication that I have paid attention. This phase in my life is purposeful and I am doing exactly what I am supposed to at the moment. My students really touch and warm my heart to the core when I see them and they provide just as much light to me as I do to them. They teach me and allow me to grow closer to the me I need to be.
I will be still and listen and await the mission ahead but in doing so...I will be patient. I will love authentically and spread it so that it is contagious. We are who we attract period.
Love and get lost in it...

"AHA"
Sometimes the best moments imaginable come out of complete silence with yourself. One of my biggest joys is reading a book that literally takes my breathe away, then placing the book down and breathing it all in.
It may not sound that eventful but there is nothing like an "aha" moment as Oprah defines it. An "Aha"" moment is when you allow yourself to open up to a message that has probably been staring you in the face the entire time but you just hadn't realized it until the actual moment you was supposed to grasp it, and that moment is your "Aha".
I am almost in complete euphoria when I am in this space. With all the distractions and shallow occurrences that happen in our lives daily, when we have time to sit and be with ourselves we rarely maximize on this opportunity. We do not even know how to do this. We start to get weary, fidget, and think about every thing else other than the NOW.
I am forcing myself to live in the NOW and appreciate every ounce of what this moment is compromised of. I am in a state of gratitude that I am blessed to still have this moment. It is mine for the taking. So many of us are not here in the physical any more, and have transcended on to the next phase in their spiritual journey.
Those of us here forget that this is our time to make the most out of life and not take anything for granted. We must live in love and in gratitude. I read a powerful line recently in a touching book that said something to the effect "If you start to look at the world with your heart instead of your mind then you will know GOD". How does this relate to the above...that is for you to decide but we all have purpose, meaning and a destination. We must try to elevate ourselves on levels that will encourage our mental, emotional and spiritual growth. This is your moment......"Seize it".

"I like the way you think".
I am a fan of LOVE when I feel it, see it, hear it, or even dream it....It never fails to leave me inspired and feeling in touch with a force that is powerful and forever yearned for.
I heard our first lady say something extremely powerful in an interview with Oprah a couple days ago, that just moved my spirit to joy. Oprah was interviewing the 1st couple and asking them how they balance it all, and how envied they could be because they seem so perfectly in love. Michelle answered the question so gracefully and exquisitely. Here is an excerpt.
Oprah : Is this a marriage to be envied?
Michelle: I think we have a wonderful marriage. I love my husband, he is my best friend. But I always like to talk honestly about it, because I think about young couples coming up who think there are no struggles to get here. There are and that's part of it. The message is, work through the struggles, start out with somebody that you respect and you trust, so that when you hit the bumps that are inevitable, you always have that foundation. I tell Barack, as mad as he may make me, I look at him and say "I really LIKE you". I like you and I like the way you think and I like the person that you are, and its hard to stray too far and to be mad too long when the person you are with is someone you like.
So incredible and so well versed. This personally captures the essence of REAL, TRUE, GENUINE love for me. To actually LIKE the person before you LOVE them, will prove the strength and the dedication to you staying where you are. DO you LIKE him? Do you like her? Do you like her traits? Do you like who they are in relation to their world that you exist in? Do you like how they talk to people? How they handle situations? How they make people feel? How they THINK? How they live? What they like to do? What makes them tick?
The road and and path to love and having the ultimate level of understanding is not easy nor smooth. Even when Love is great and things seem too perfect, it takes your attention and commitment to maintaining it and keeping it that way. You have to always put that other person's feelings in mind and work together to making sure that the both of you are happy, and if that is not intense work then what it?
As humans, it is hard for us to be content all the time, we allow so many variables to come in and disturb our momentum and test our faith on what we believe to be "working". I 100% know and believe that love is TEAM WORK and it will Be the most important collaboration that you Will ever take part in, in your life.
When we have love, and stability we feel good. We feel alive and we are in touch with the higher consciousness that resides in us all. We allow the GOD in us to seep out and be a source of light and inspiration for all around us.
Allow GOD to work through you more. Accept love when it comes your way and always give it to others. Love in all capacities is what releases us to living the life that was intended. Give plenty of it...out.
LOVE.
Have a Tasty Tuesday.

What I know for sure....TODAY.
I remember a couple of years ago I picked up this small book by Oprah called "The Top 20 Things that I know for sure". Oprah posed the question to everyone "What do you know for sure"? When you really put thought to this question, it isn't as easy as it seems.
Disqualifying information like your name and address obviously, ask yourself "What do you know for sure".
This got me to thinking about my own 20 things that I know for sure. These change as time and experiences go on, but this is where I am today.
1- No matter how bad today is, tomorrow leaves room for joy and improvement.
2- A smile can be contagious.
3- Paying ANYONE (stranger or friend) and unexpected compliment can do wonders for someone's spirit in a matter of seconds.
4- Money WILL make your life easier, but it is the space that you are in within your life that will prove if the feeling is rewarding.
5- My life is bigger than me. There is a higher power ruling the main stage. I am the starring role.
6- Faith can literally move mountains. It is how much you believe in something that will determine its power in your life.
7- Looking at children in their element is like watching GOD work first hand.
8- It is important that there is absolutely something that you believe in and are willing to die for. This is PASSION.
9- No matter how many times you have been hurt in LOVE, it is SOOO worth it to fall back into it. Never run from Love. Embrace it.
10- A good home cooked meal can sometimes make you feel like you are on top of the world.
11- When you work hard and put everything you have into something, the universe has no choice but to repay you, and the reward is GREAT. Hard work ALWAYS pays off.
12- Loyalty & Trust are hard to come by, no matter who someone is or how close they claim you are to them.
13- If someone shares something with you in confidence...HONOR IT! This can be one of the most amazing things you can do for someone and watch how your relationship will grow.
14- There are some people who will cut you down and think nothing of it. Their role is to be an opportunist and look out only for them. Do not be in denial about this sort of person. They do exist, just be smart.
15- Nothing is never bad enough to give up. Everything happens in time. Love, Career, Family and Passion is discovered when the time is right.
16- Spirituality is the backbone to our existence. Get in tune with yours.
17- We are at our most true when we are doing and acting as if no one is watching.
18- Complaining and SAYING what you want to change will do nothing for the result that you ultimately want. You must DO, and make what you want happen.
19- Nothing feels better in the world than new love.
20- Help someone do something daily. If it is giving directions, a helping hand, advice, affection, or a hug. Make sure that on a daily basis you GIVE in some way to the next person. This is our purpose.

Easy loving comes a dime a dozen....
Its a sad day when you see a 53 year old woman say "He bought me 2 drinks...What am I supposed to do... not put out"? SMH on this one until I am dizzy. I was watching Oprah last night and a woman of that age actually said that and laughed! I could not believe it.
I mean granted in this day and age..men use bottles and VIP as an extension of there lack of thereof, and some of them can take on this attitude as if you are supposed to supply them with some of the goodies just because he allowed you to drink on his bottle of overpriced liqueur, and you danced with him a couple times in a night. Therefore you should just know what is going down once you leave the party, bar or where ever you may be.
Of course any woman with a high regard for who she is and knows herself, will NOT equate a man catering to her and offering her something as small as a drink the chance to be invited to the goodness and quality that she possess between her legs. BUT, I am well aware that there are some ladies who think this is OK and they are making it harder for those who don't.
You can give some of these women the benefit of the doubt in some cases and say "hey, maybe she really is attracted to the guy and whole heartily wants to take him home and sample what he has to offer", but in this day and age with the all the stuff circulating...Is it even worth that? I have heard too many horror stories about sleeping with someone once and catching a disease EVEN when you think you are being safe wearing a condom.
There are too many types of unsanitary, unhygienic folks running around looking fine as they wanna be. That is the craziest part of it all. The most attractive folks are the ones burning alive! Sad but true. Be careful out here and get to know a person before you offer them a piece of yourself..because in actuality when they lay down with you they WILL walk away with a piece of you.
Another crazy thing I heard on this same show was a girl calling in to say she basically is a christian woman and decided to wait for marriage before having sex but she wants to participate in "heavy petting" and "oral" with the guys she is dating. WHAT?!!! This had me actually laughing out loud! The icing on the cake is she said "I will receive oral not give it". OK...What planet is she living on and what guy is willing to go through this with her over and over again before making a clean exit. FAST! Which will then have her dating more and more men , adding on to her roster and her receiving oral sex, which puts her in the BURNING ALIVE crew I mentioned above, because you are more ample to catch even more diseases through oral.
I am concerned about the logic that some of the ladies have these days. It just isn't smart and it does not make any sense for the long term. Start to wise up and start HOLDING out on your goods! Men WILL wait if they really like you and that's the bottom line. They will be forced to get to know the real you, and they may like who that is before he gets to see your other sides. Sure, he may get some in between his waiting period with you because after all HE IS A MAN...But that has nothing to do with you.
I have heard some of my homies say "She refused to give me some, and even though I can call up 5 chicks right now willing to hit me off, I don't even want nobody else but her"...So if your are a grade A level Dame then he will remain in line and stay focused, and if he stops and ceases all communication then I have to say he was whack anyway.
Easy loving comes a dime a dozen....step your game up and make him remember this ain't easy...because you are worth it!
Happy hunting :).
Have a Happy Tuesday!
XOXOXO

Love can hurt..but I should NEVER feel it physically!!!!
It was not in my spirit to speak on this whole Chriahanna drama (as everyone has said as a preface before speaking on it) but I do want to address this matter to a certain degree, because SINCE this whole terrible situation has occurred I am starting to hear REVELATIONS from women I know directly and through other people about their own abusive relationships...and it all sort of takes the wind out of me. (no pun intended).
We grow up and we hear a man should NEVER put his hands on you...and yes we agree and we do our head nods..and we say "Love is not supposed to hurt and if a man ever dared tried to touch me I would kill him". I hate to say this but....we have heard this all before and you can NEVER EVER speak on what you will do until you ARE in that position first hand.
Can you actually put yourself in the scenario where you been with a man for over 5 years and he has been the sweetest thing since a pack of M&M's with peanuts( My personal fav) and one night you do something to send him through the roof and he slaps you to the floor. This is all very new, never happened and completely out of NOWHERE....You love this man....he has never done this before...soo....you really gonna pick up and go....REALLY?!
I can only speak for myself when I say... I would be the first one to say "NEVER EVER EVER", but I must be fair with myself that you never know the mind frame a woman OR man (men are getting abused as well these days) are in when their beloved companion strikes them first hand off guard.
I feel incredibly blessed that I have never been a victim of domestic violence at any degree, be it myself, within my family, or even my close friends...but I know it exists and I know that it is NOT easy to just walk away.
I was the first one preaching from the pulpit, that Rhianna provoked Chris Brown when this story first hit the public, mainly because I know for a fact that she is not easy! It has been said within the industry even BEFORE this all got worldwide attention, how she would fight with him, knock him in the head when he was even looking at someone else, and she was extremely jealous. Of course, this is no reason for Chris to have beaten her so badly BUT I know that you can only take but so much of certain behavior before a breaking point occurs.
Factor in they are young and being young and in relationship, when you have no REAL life experience with love and emotions and how to deal with it effectively, can be a huge disadvantage when you are committed to another person. You don't know when to leave a situation at that age because you like the feelings you are getting on a sexual level, the person is probably HOTT and the temptation and lust will always override the emotional dysfunction and unstable state.
Who cares about all that deep stuff at 19 and 21. Lets us not forget to add in the fact that these people live in a bubble because they have a celebrity status that is on a whole other level. All they do is take in each other because they cannot really interact and mess with "regular" folks.
The point I am making is this is REAL LIFE ish, and it happens every single day! Chris Brown and Rihanna are just HUGE public figures which makes this even easier for everyone to pass judgment and say what they may but please believe, there are 15, 16 and 17 year old beating their girlfriends a** everyday! I know for a fact because I knew one of them 2 years ago who had a serious problem beating his girlfriend and I did not get involved because I knew him through someone else and what can I tell his girlfriend....that she would actually listen to.
I have learned that in domestic situations especially...when the abused person is READY to leave..they just will, and you have to just pray that they make it out alive. There is a lesson in their suffering from GOD even in that abuse for them to grasp, and it cannot happen just because WE are saying it to them. All we can do is constantly feed them the positive message of "This is not what you should be in"..but we cannot remove them.
Oprah is doing a special today on Domestic Violence and I hope that it serves to have a very powerful impact on the women in the world watching. Hopefully Rihanna will be watching as well. I also hope she got the message loud and clear from Oprah last week that "Once a man hits you he will hit you again". Of course he will, until HE is ready to get help. How does Oprah know..because she was abused by a man herself when she was first breaking into her celebrity.
I hope that Rihanna and Chris are able to rehabilitate themselves. I am extremely disappointed in Chris actions but I do not hate him, because nothing comes of that nor can be built off of hate! I want him to take responsibility, and rehabilitate and learn from this, as well as truly with sincere regard, want to be a better man because of it.
I hope that Rihanna steps away from him and take a a break. No one (man, woman or child) should have to go through that sort of abuse. She is soooo HOTT!!!!! The last thing she needs to do is sit and get pounded on by someone who is not putting her up on that pedestal and acknowledging her fierceness 24/7!
I am committed to speaking out against domestic violence along with being vocal in my opinions that it is wrong. The message has to be constant and has to come from a place of love to that abused person.
Te amo Familia!!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!!
XOXOXOX
