The things we choose to sit and pout our lip out about can be so revealing of the space we are in on the inside. When we are glowing and in a space of gratitude, rarely do we let people and places rise us up to show our ugly side. We just let it roll off our shoulders. When will we stop allowing things and people to affect us in ways that steal our joy and make us frown for way too long?
There is always someone else going through a hardhsip that is not so easily treated. There is always someone else whose load is too heavy for them to carry. I say as long as you have breathe, health and can make a deciasion about your next move ..then you should be smiling. You should be happy to still have another chance to do it all over. The time is now and the life you are living is yours to do as you may. Who has time to frown, have a sour puss face and hold a grudge..let it go..and as they say LET GOD! He can and will handle it all...
Keeping seeking your sweeteness...let it seep out your pours when you speak to your co-workers, family, friends....let it be contagious and let your smiles guide your path. You will get so much further.
XOXOXO!

"AHA"
Sometimes the best moments imaginable come out of complete silence with yourself. One of my biggest joys is reading a book that literally takes my breathe away, then placing the book down and breathing it all in.
It may not sound that eventful but there is nothing like an "aha" moment as Oprah defines it. An "Aha"" moment is when you allow yourself to open up to a message that has probably been staring you in the face the entire time but you just hadn't realized it until the actual moment you was supposed to grasp it, and that moment is your "Aha".
I am almost in complete euphoria when I am in this space. With all the distractions and shallow occurrences that happen in our lives daily, when we have time to sit and be with ourselves we rarely maximize on this opportunity. We do not even know how to do this. We start to get weary, fidget, and think about every thing else other than the NOW.
I am forcing myself to live in the NOW and appreciate every ounce of what this moment is compromised of. I am in a state of gratitude that I am blessed to still have this moment. It is mine for the taking. So many of us are not here in the physical any more, and have transcended on to the next phase in their spiritual journey.
Those of us here forget that this is our time to make the most out of life and not take anything for granted. We must live in love and in gratitude. I read a powerful line recently in a touching book that said something to the effect "If you start to look at the world with your heart instead of your mind then you will know GOD". How does this relate to the above...that is for you to decide but we all have purpose, meaning and a destination. We must try to elevate ourselves on levels that will encourage our mental, emotional and spiritual growth. This is your moment......"Seize it".

Can I see a little of me in you?
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.” - Charles R. Swindoll
Long quote I have shared today...I know, but so much needed! I do not think half of us really acknowledge our attitudes in life. I truly believe that if we took one second before each occurrence and thought about how we wanted to maintain a positive outlook then we would have different results more often. I am really going hard on this attitude adjustment campaign in my life because I think I have fell victim more often than not to not having the BEST possible attitude towards situations that are not favorable.
So many of us are ready to sucks our teeth, throw up our hands, roll our eyes, defame someones character, punch someone in the face, spit on each other, lie on each other, and NOT CARE about anything outside of them. This is the behavior we need to negate.
We should aim to hug, embrace, encourage, motivate, think, show concern, give our attention, listen, guide, hope and dream with each other. So much more can be done when these are put into place. It takes so much energy to sit back and be mad and be purposeful in your negative space. How do you live a life that is hateful on purpose? How does that add up?
We must know that our youth are in a state of emergency. This entire generation is in a huge state of emergency and it will not change unless some of us be the pillars of example to always wearing and putting on our best for them. They need constant reminders of what NOT to be and what NOT to do, and unfortunately those come far in between because we give up on the hope that exists for them.
Dedicate yourself to living as an example to the possibilities that can exist for them, and that all starts with changing your attitude to being bright and optimistic! As one person told me ...SUNNY SIDE UP. :)

With whom do you RELATE?
Any man who has the genuine love of a woman...(and this can be vice versa) has a tremendous blessing. To truly be in love with another individual past what they own, who they know, their material possessions, and what they can do for YOU, can sometimes seem non-existence in this day.
There was a time when people fell in love with someone based on who they were and what they stood for. They loved the character, integrity, respect, dreams and philosophies that another person possessed. Now a days they see how much can this guy buy me? What can he do for me? How big is his bank account? How fine he is. Who does he know that I can get around and try to get closer to advance myself? The list can go on. Forget actually having conversation and getting to know everything about the person.
OH...and it's not just women...men can participate in this as well.
Some men will be with a woman who can take care of their every need. They will secure a relationship that is suitable for what they need in their life for the moment. If a man has no motivation to get up and work, he will stay with a woman who is not the "one" for him just so he can live rent free, she can cook his meals, and all he has to do is lay her down on her back once in a while to keep her happy.
When a person is being used ...I believe they know it.
They know something is off and they are not being 100% loved in the way Love was intended, but they stay in a bad situation for as long as the comfort zone remains. Relationships are a cooperative effort. A partnership. Team work. In my opinion there should never be a relationship in which someone is doing most or all of the work. I am not saying there is something wrong with a man holding down a household and taking care of the bulk of the financial load, because many of our men were raised to do this, BUT, if you are blessed to have a good man, ladies at least take care of home. Take care of him. Make his life easier, be nurturing, catering and sensitive to the way he feels and the things he wants. Share in his joy and share his world. Be a part of what makes him happy, you are probably the main component of that happiness when you are at your best.
Men...if a lady is holding you down and doing all that she can to make it work for you, then do your share as well. Make her feel like a Queen. Make her feel beautiful without having to say a word. Pay attention to her, love her and be responsive to all her needs. Work to become best friends even though you are lovers. It's the best way to RELATE to your partner. Share your feelings your thoughts, dreams with each other and love with all you have.
Take time to evaluate what your self-worth is and how it relates to the one you lay next to. It may be an eye opener.

The high road
Sometimes we forget to celebrate the good in situations. I am gonna go on a limb and guess that it is extremely easy to look for the negative in every situation, in every word that is said, in every action that is done, and once it happens it's even easier to focus on it and to discuss it with someone else. This is a terrible disease. The unfortunate thing is there are many suffers of this disease and they may not know they are suffering from it. GOSSIPING.
Gossiping is one of the oldest and most toxic practices that you can indulge in regularly, but we choose to do it without a second thought. We do it without thinking about the people who is at the end of it, we destroy someones reputation and character in less than a second with the words we choose to affiliate someone with. The saddest part is when this disease erupts among people and places where only LOVE should be the common factor.
It's easy to take the easy way out and exude negative ideas and thoughts about another person, but challenge yourself today and in your tomorrows to refrain from that energy.
Challenge yourself to do what so many people don't do. Try seeing only the good in every situation, in every person, in every occurrence. The truth is it will be mishaps, and it will be things that happen that you would rather not experience, but, how much of your energy and time will you dedicate to it.
Have a wonderful GOSSIP free day!

We need not wait for no one....
A simple word of encouragement when you are down can be a breathe of fresh air that awakens a spirit that was once down and broken. Just as food becomes stale after it sits too long, we can also become stale. Only thing with us becoming stale is we are the culprits behind it. We allow ourselves to becomes stale by becoming complacent, miserable and victims.
We know what does not work in our lives, when we are not at its best but we allow it to remain. We know we are capable of doing greater things but we stay in the same comfortable positions. We know that certain people and their energy and intentions are ill willed but we keep them around. We know that we are at our best when we surround ourselves with things and people that motivate, encourage and inspire us to do bigger and better things.
I believe that every day GOD awakens you, you are given a moment of "inspiration" to grasp and make your own. I do not care if you stayed in the house all day, crying, there was something that was placed in your space to awaken your giant and give way to the purpose you are to serve in this world. We get signs and clues into our future all day everyday. It amazes me sometimes now when I look back at certain "previews" that are present in my life today and thinking how I had no idea I would be where I am.
It takes patience and focus to be great. It takes great sacrifice to attain success and I can attest that nothing easy is ever built for the long haul. You must sacrifice much and commit to whatever it is you truly want to achieve it. So many of us have extreme degrees of blessings overflowing in our lives but this sense of "never being satisfied" and wanting more and not being grateful takes over like a disease and corrupts the essence of what really matters.
Here my list of what really matters:
1- LOVE
2- Genuine Relationships with each other
3- Respect
4- Inspiration
5- Guidance
6- Passion
7- Commitment
8- Humility
9- Compassion
10- Generosity
These are in no particular order of importance, they all are equally important. They're all ingredient's to the recipe to being our greater self's.
Live with purpose..on purpose.
Enjoy your day....

A new chapter begins....
Its been a while since my words have traveled through your PCs...I have been working...and working hard. I have learned that the jack of all trades MASTERS nothing and the fool speaks the loudest sometimes.
I took a minute away from my blog to focus on something that I started 2 years ago. A journey that even when I began, I had no idea how far I would go, and if it would ever be complete.
It began in a cubicle in the New York Times. As I sat there reading through my emails and getting calls about what advertisement was not showing on their website...I realized....I don't wanna do this. I don't want to do this! It was literally screaming out of my pours! I was miserable..how I wish I could have taken a longer walk in the beautiful sun that glazed the concrete that morning...but couldn't because 9 am was creeping up and I was confined to work a schedule of 9-5! Doing something I was not passionate about. I did not care about. WHY? To pay a bill...to have alot of money? Things that don't matter when I am gone.
A whole 8 hours of my day...everyday...a huge chunk of my life in which at the end of it, could I say "I touched, moved or inspired anyone"?
When I left and went home to rest, did I do anything that made me feel remotely greater than how I felt when I left out of my house that morning?
Why did I feel like a free prisoner? Is it possible?
I sat and I wondered at that very moment in my cubicle.."Dee what are you doing"? At that time a voice spoke to me and said "Teach". You love children..You are a teacher naturally. You can make a difference with your voice..use it..give back..help..be of service. So I followed the call. It was as if I was being directed to do things that I never did before. But My innver vocie spoke and I listened.
I went to the website of my alma mater and looked into graduate programs for childhood education. I sat at that desk that entire day and wrote why I should be accepted into their program and why I think I'm worthy of teaching. That and some other requirements were needed, and just that simple I had applied to graduate school. That was summer of 2008. It is now Spring 2010 and Its over..DONE. Mission Complete.
How fast time flies?
I now hold a Master of Science in Education and I am proud. I sacrificed my writing, my lifestyle and my time to complete something that I started, and for the first time in my life I actually FINISHED! I have always been great at starting things and not fully seeing it to the end. I get bored very fast with many things...but I committed myself to this purposely and I succeeded.
I never been so proud of myself and fulfilled with my work ever. It brings tears to my eyes to see Gods plan for me manifest. I did not do it alone. Nothing can be done by our lonesome successfully. It takes a village in everything we do. That's the key to life. Interconnecting ourselves to help each other.
If it wasn't for the support of my family..my LOVE and my friends I would have never ever made it through the past 2 years! I take a moment to say Thank you! I am humbled and I am blessed and this message is your mirror to view the blessing that you are to me.
What are my next moves? I will teach but that is not all God has planned for me...I shall continue to write and fulfill the destiny that was written. There is much more.
I will stay true to who I am.
I will love.
I will live positive. I will be present to the lessons.
I will not confine myself anymore to just Tues or Thurs but whatever day I feel the need to release and share my soul ...
Dedicated to someone remarkable who asked me for this....
LOVE!
